Are Apple Products really better than Windows based PCs for creating music and/or working with digital photos?

I’m nearing the point where I can justify the cost of a laptop for use in creating music (I sing, play guitar, bass and can push “start” on my drum machine) and in storing and working with digital photo’s.
Apple products are marketed as being better at these tasks than Windows based PC’s.
I’m interested in knowing what others have experienced.
